A type of accompaniment pattern that uses a persistent 16th note rhythm with broken chords, in varying note configurations.

A combination of triplets played in one hand while notes with regular values are played in the other hand at the same time.

Notes whose lengths are equal to half the value of one sixteenth note.

An Italian term meaning "hastening"; an indication instructing the player to increase the speed gradually.

An accompaniment pattern that uses mainly arpeggios in any configuration and with any rhythmic values.

Chord tones played together that are not part of an accompaniment pattern.

Indications instructing the player to play gradually louder (crescendo) or softer (diminuendo).

Notes whose values are determined by a subdivision into two-note groupings instead of three.

Leaps greater than an octave that are to be executed at a fast speed and in succession. 

The left pedal, which moves the keyboard so that the hammers play less strings, creating a softer or lighter sound.
