A type of accompaniment pattern that uses a persistent 16th note rhythm with broken chords, in varying note configurations.

A series of any amount or quality of blocked 3rd intervals that are played in one hand and move up or down in primarily 16th note rhythms.

Notes whose lengths are equal to one-sixteenth the value of a whole note or one quarter of a quarter note.

A type of broken octave accompaniment that also contains added inner notes like 5ths or 3rds.

An Italian term meaning "delaying"; an indication instructing the player to decrease speed, often gradually.

A simple melody line shared by both the right hand and the left hand.
