Arpeggios played with predominantly 16th note rhythms.

Hand positions that require stretching beyond a five finger scale; usually to play intervals that are 6ths or greater.

Ornamentations that are notated in a smaller size than normal notes and played slightly before them.

A technique that involves one hand crossing over or under the other.

When one hand plays above or below the other for an extended period of time, often used alongside Hand Crossing.

More than key signature used in a single piece or movement.

An indication to play in an unconnected manner, as opposed to legato, but not as short as staccato. Also called "non-legato".

Expressive and rhythmic freedom characterized by the slight speeding up and slowing down of the tempo at the discretion of the performer.
