A type texture that occurs when the contour, distance, and speed of the notes in one hand matches that of the other hand as they play together.

Notes whose values are determined by a subdivision into three-note groupings instead of two or four.

Using a different finger on the same notes or switching the finger while holding a note.

An accompaniment pattern that features broken intervals played in both hands simultaneously.

Notes whose lengths are equal to one-eighth the value of a whole note or half the value of a quarter note.

Complicated, dense, and rich harmonies involving complex chords, chord substitutions, modal mixture, upper structures, among other techniques.

Also called the damper pedal, it is the rightmost pedal on the piano and used to sustain notes by moving the dampers away from the strings.
