A type of accompaniment pattern where only one note is played at a time, usually within a single five finger scale and with simple rhythms.

Simple five-note scales whose notes fit within a comfortable hand shape; applied when more than one such scale appears in a piece.

A simple scale that contains the first five notes of the G Major scale.

Notes whose lengths are equal to one half the value of a whole note.

An Italian term meaning "delaying"; an indication instructing the player to decrease speed, often gradually.

The note one step above Treble G or a skip below Treble C.

The note two steps above Treble G or one step below Treble C.

The note one step above Treble C, a 5th above Treble G, or a 4th below High G.

One of the landmark notes; the C an octave above Middle C.
