Nannie Louise Wright

Nannie Louise Wright was an American composer, pianist, and teacher. Born in Fayette, Missouri, N. Louise graduated from Howard-Payne Junior College and the Columbia School of Music in Chicago, Illinois. She also studied in Berlin with legendary pianist Josef Lhévinne.

Wright served as Director of Music at Howard-Payne College, President of the Missouri State Music Teachers’ Association, and Dean of Music at Central Methodist University’s Swinney Conservatory of Music. Wright composed over forty works for piano. Many of her works are pedagogical in nature but span from the early intermediate level of Goblins to quite advanced pieces such as her 12 Preludes, Op. 25 and 12 Etudes, Op. 26.
